New module from summer semester 2024: fuTUre skills – self-reflection as a method for sustainable skills and personality development

New 5 CP module of the Department of Biology on Future Skills in the general studies/interdisciplinary area. Registration now in TUCaN.

2024/02/16

During your studies, you acquire a wide range of specialist knowledge and skills. But at the same time – and often unconsciously – you learn numerous future-oriented interdisciplinary skills that are very important for your later (professional) life. In the module “fuTUre skills – self-reflection as a method for sustainable skills and personality development”, the teaching team at the Department of Biology will guide and support you in becoming aware of and documenting your skills and personality development so that you can present them confidently in job applications, for example. Using methods of self-reflection, you will learn to assess your professional and interdisciplinary skills. You will deal with your strengths and weaknesses, future skills such as communication, cooperation, reflection and digital skills, time management and goal setting and support each other in peer groups. The process is accompanied by a teaching team of lecturers and student co-trainers.

The module begins with a workshop in March (15 – 17.03.2024). This lays the foundation for the semester-accompanying reflection phase and the group of participants gets to know each other. For the reflection phase, you choose a module from your current semester, which you reflect on using weekly tasks and document in a personal development portfolio. A group meeting takes place approximately once a month, in which topics such as future skills, social and technological transformation, AI in studies, employability and citizenship, learning strategies, time management and self-organization are developed together. At the end of the reflection phase, the development portfolio is submitted as academic achievement and 5 CP can be credited in the interdisciplinary area.

The skills and competencies acquired in fuTUre skills will prepare you for your further studies, your future and for lifelong learning.

We look forward to your participation!
