Thomas Weiland-Stiftung Scholarships

The Thomas Weiland Foundation at Darmstadt University of Technology was established on October 30, 2014 and recognized as a legally capable foundation under civil law on November 5, 2014. The purpose of the foundation is to promote young scientists in MINT subjects, i.e. subjects related to mathematics, computer science, natural science and technology.

Funding 2023

The Thomas Weiland Foundation will award 16 scholarships for bachelor's and master's students in the amount of 750 euros per month in 2023.
The start of funding is scheduled for April 1, 2023 and October 1, 2023, respectively.

Application deadline: January 14, 2023 or June 30, 2023.

Bachelor Scholarships

  • For outstanding high school graduates.
  • For all bachelor's degree programs at the TU Darmstadt with MINT relevance (i.e. related to mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology).


Master scholarships

  • For outstanding Bachelor students
  • For all Master's programs at the TU Darmstadt with MINT relevance (i.e. related to mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology)


Application documents

  • Covering letter that addresses the applicant's previous and planned educational path and, in particular, its relevance to technical and engineering sciences.
  • Curriculum vitae and documents proving the most important stations as well as, if applicable, social and societal commitment.
  • List of school/study achievements
  • For participants of Jugend forscht there is a separate funding line with a simplified application procedure. If you have achieved a place in a state competition of Jugend forscht or Schüler experimentieren, you can simply apply to us with your written work, certificate and high school diploma (as a PDF by e-mail). In addition, a short cover letter about your own interests and planned studies. The same deadlines apply.
