International Space Weather Camp

The German Aerospace Center (DLR), the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) are searching students from the fields of mathematics, physics, informatics and engineering. The International Space Weather Camp (ISWC) 24th June – 23rd July is an opportunity for students from the US, South Africa, and Germany to learn about space physics in the context of meeting a very practical need.

The ISWC covers various aspects related to Space Weather, comprising cosmic ray particle transport theory, plasma physics, solar physics, heliospheric physics, computer simulations for modeling and understanding local Space Weather, and the impact on Earth’s atmosphere, satellites, and space vehicles.

The camp is divided into two parts. The first part will take place in Hermanus, the site of SANSA in South Africa from 24th of June until the 07th of July. The second part will be hold in Huntsville, Alabama, from the 08th until the 23rd of July.

Costs for international travel, travel abroad, accommodation, food will be paid by the DLR, SANSA and UAH. The travel to the airport within Germany and the ESTA-Visa (ca. 21$) for the USA need to be paid by the student.

Deadline for the application is the 12th of March 2023.
